Ferran Xalabarder F. X. is a European cartoonist and illustrator from Barcelona, Spain best known for his mind-blowing fantasy and Sci-Fi comic short stories published in the Heavy Metal Magazine between 2002 and 2015: “The Key to Valhalla”, “Game Over”, “A space Trifle”, between others and the many chapters of “The Oniria saga” (Saga which is currently being in published in France). During his career, he’s been working on almost every field of the visual storytelling realm. He went from publishing short comic-stories and illustrations in the Spanish versions of “Creepy” and “The Savage Sword of Conan” magazines, and posters, pin-ups and covers for the Spanish publisher of Marvel comics at that time. Between many other things, he also worked at Fox Animation Studios doing Story-boards and production designs for the film “Anastasia” and creating plenty of conceptual designs of alien creatures and backgrounds for the movie “Titan A.E.” His last work is the adaptation into Graphic Novel format of the Novel “Horrorscope” by Brian Evans, Mark, A. Biltz and Helen M. Bousquet..

The Art:

Zatanna Zatara is a powerful Homo Magi (or Homo Magus) from DC’s Universe of Superheroes. Daughter of Golden Age’s character Giovanni “John” Zatara, the Master Magician. Like her father, besides other magic powers, she casts spells by pronouncing backwards what she wishes. A member of the Justice League of America. Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow, once said that she is the most powerful member of the group. The character was created by writer Gardner Fox & artist Murphy Anderson and first appeared in Hawkman #4 in November 1964.

The art is accomplished in mixed media (watercolors, acrylics) over inks on Bristol board. Measuring approximately 11 x 17 inches, it is signed & dated by the artist in the lower left and is in excellent condition.
